Project 365* Updates

7 weeks had gone so fast and i am done with my surgery posting for the time being. It had sure been one hectic posting and the last one week had been kinda even more hectic for me. Busy with presentations and case write ups as usual. So here's a quick update on Project 365*. :)

# 38 - In my opinion, this shop served the best fried rice in Kuala Terengganu. It's just normal, chinese style fried rice, but it's cheap and the best. Not many ppl served fried rice with Chinese sausage but this shop does. Besides, ask the uncle for extra spicy if you are a fan of spicy and feels the omph with every mouth.

Also from the same shop, i love their char kuey teow as well. Personally, i think it's the best char kuey teow in KT too :D. When you are far from Penang, this compensates just as good.

The shop that sells both these best fried rice and char kuey teow is the one with the red arrow pointing. It is located in Chinatown and it's not hard to find at all. :)

# 39- We had our 1st ever night class with super busy Dato J in the hosp. Was so craving for ahem but in the end went to RCS for roti tampal. haha

# 40-  Took this group pic after our last OT session for surgery posting. With the shower cap, face mask and oversize top and pant, it always reminds me of all those surgery scenes in dramas.

I ps-ed the background so it gives off this lost-in-transition kinda aura.. haha

After we removed the shower cap, our hairs always look extremely flat, out of place and ugly.

# 41 - End-of-each-posting group pic with our lecturers. Surgeons from Myammar, Iraq and India each teaching us in their own style. Surgery is a very tiring job that take's up a lot of time, that's why very few ladies surgeon compared to men surgeon.

# 42 - Before i type on, just wna say a short 'Happy Birthday' to darling MV. Spent the whole day watching ANTM cycle 9. I know cycle 9 was like so 2007 but i had not been following ANTM on tv, so i do not know what is the current/last cycle on aired, whether im ahead or lacking behind other viewers here in Msia. haha. Anyway, once i started watching, i couldn't stopped. It was so addictive. That was my lunch of carbonara spaghetti by the way. Whether you all already knew it or don't, cycle 9 winner was Saleisha Cooper, the mushroom-helmet head girl that i really don't like. I mean she's very pretty, in fact all the girls in the final 13 were very pretty and they have body i'm envious of, and faces that cameras love so much. Aside from that, some of them had some sort of charm, some are just nice, some are bitchy while some are arrogant.  Is it necessary for you to be fake because you are in a competition, or you have to be fake because u can't stand a fair competition. Saleisha so happens to fall into the fakers category. She's like a two face girl, a teacher's pet who is nice and friendly in front of the panel but a real snot when they are not looking. I mean she is energetic and lively but i can't stand the way she's a total snot behind the panel.

I was really rooting for Heather, she is soooooooooooo pretty and she takes soooooooooooooooo strong shots. Her only problem was that she can't socialize that well and she has problems with her catwalks but you can't blame her right? She had Asberger's when she was young. I like Lisa and Janet too but they both got booted out as well. When it went down to the final 3, i was hoping Chantal could win instead but her catwalk was so stiff that i had to agreed mushroom-helmet head did a better job. And luckily Bianca did not win either. She's nasty and bitchy and i just don't like her as well.

I'll be downloading cycle 10 but i don't think i have time to watch till my holidays in July. :)

In Memory Forever

Ppl who say that it's absurd to be sad or grief over the death of a pet probably never had any pets in their life before.

A pet is like a family too. They become part of the family. I know my dog is part of my family, which i love just as much.

I still remembered vividly how we found her some 10 years ago on the street and how she stared at us with those adorable eyes and we instantly knew she belong to us.

I thought i will still be able to see her in 2 weeks time when i go back. Alas, life is just so vulnerable and unpredictable. It is just 2 more weeks. :(

I just kinda created the poem below specially dedicated to my beloved doggie.

Silently you went away,
Leaving me in much dismay,
But my heart felt a little gay,
Knowing you are peacefully at lay.

You brighten up my gloomy day,
And turn my frown into aye,
Always by my side to stay,
Listening to my grouses and nay.

Faithfully keeping thieves at bay,
You'll be watching rain or ray,
Still remembered how you used to obey,
No one else but daddy.

You'll always be my Underdog,
Brave, playful and funny,
You don't fly but all the same cuddly,
Forever in my memory you remain fondly.

R.I.P

This pic was taken many many yrs ago but it is the only pic i have of her with me now.

Ziq Delicafe, Kuala Terengganu

A few days earlier, we saw the opening of this new delicafe near the bus station. And Siew said got cheese tarts there. How exciting. I never ate any cheese tarts here in KT cz i don't really see any bakery selling. So, me and DD decided to drop by and try out the place.

The inside of the cafe was quite cosy and besides cakes and cheese tarts, they also have ala-cartes. Price-wise, it is slightly cheaper than Secret Recipe.

# 37, 17.4.09 - Strawberry cheesecake. It has 4 layers : a jelly top with slices of strawberries, the cheese, the chocolate sponge and the biscuit crusts below. Hmm, it is rather big piece but i think the cheese taste shd be stronger and the the crusts don't taste so crunchy if you noe what i mean..haha.. overall still ok..

Peanut butter and milk toast - oolalala... the toast is good.. the peanut butter and milk melting over the entire bread gives peanut butter lover like me full satisfaction

Half boil egg toast - I like this very very much also partly, nope, mainly because the egg is done to the level i love it to be. The pouch with toast is a perfect start for the day :)

When you decides to eat Chinese food cooked by the non- Chinese, obviously it will never taste as good and it shd be consider good if it does not taste bad or unedible.. hehe

That day i felt like eating wa tan hor (Cantonese style Kuey Teow), so....

Wa Tan Hor - I thought it looked more like cantonese porridge instead.. hehe.. but still ok the taste..

Which reminds me of this irritating fly while we were eating..

Seriously, i think all food premises shd make an effort to make sure their food premise is free of flies. After all, it is for the hygiene of the food and customers can eat in peace. I mean, every food premise wants to get an A from the local municipal council but if there are flies around irritating customers and polluting the food, and possibly transmitting all those vector-borne diseases, then it is not fair to see them sticking an A, and they charge us prices way higher than hawker right?

So, this fly just flew around us, on our plates and we tried to shoo it away with our hands, but it just wont bug, and finally it even flew into my wa tan hor! My wa tan hor that i had only started eating a few mouthful. It landed itself nicely on my wa tan hor and then it did not want to go. DD had to use his hand to come pick the fly up and put him on another table then only it flew to dno where.

Usually i wont wna touch my food anymore if a fly land on it but then this fly landed itself on the entire wa tan hor and it is so wasteful if i just throw the whole bowl away aint? So, that day i pretended i never saw the fly and continue eating. ^^ Luckily, no diarrhea or anything.

Traditional hainan fried rice.. looks more like fried chicken rice.. the taste was kinda bland..

Overall, i think the food is ok, have yet to try their Western and Italian food and more cakes. And even though i was excited for their cheese tarts, i din had any cz i was too full then. Next time perhaps. haha.. Oh yes, the staff there was rather honest in the sense they let their customers know of whats fresh and whats not. I mean most business ppl will not tell you that their sandwiches are kept overnite and it is not fresh right?

After talking so much, where is this place?

It is call Ziq Deli Cafe and is located a few shops away from the KFC near the bus station. :)

Man Attacked by Elephant

Very interesting news i saw in the paper today. Ok-la actually i searched for the news in the local papers because i saw this patient in the ward today and then i saw that his diagnosis was being attack by an elephant and i was thinking of how come a normal man can suddenly get attacked by elephant. So, got curious and ta-da i found the news in both the Malay Metro paper and The Star.

The Star version :

KUALA TERENGGANU: A Wildlife Department ranger survived an attack by an elephant that he was trying to ride at Elephant Park, Hulu Terengganu, yesterday.

Mohd Hadzli Awang, 27, was trying to get on top of the elephant named Charlie when he lost his balance in the 8.55am incident.

Charlie became agitated and threw Mohd Hadzli to the ground.

He continued attacking Mohd Hadzli, stabbing his task against Mohd Hadzli and stepping on him.

Mohd Hadzli’s colleagues pulled him away from the elephant and rushed him to the hospital.

Metro version :

Ibu mangsa, Robiah Ismail,50, berkata kejadian berlaku ketika anak sulungnya menunggang gajah bernama ‘Charlie’ untuk dijadikan gajah jinak sebelum ia tiba-tiba ‘naik minyak’.

Difahamkan, sehingga jam 2 petang semalam, tiada laporan polis dibuat, menyebabkan polis belum mendapat gambaran bagaimana kejadian berlaku.

So, he is a wildlife ranger. Poor fellow. When Jumbo gets angry they are not as cute as how they look on cartoon anymore isn't that?

After reading both version, you guys do realized that while The Star reported that this guy got thrown off the elephant after losing his balance but in Metro, the mother claimed that the elephant was initially chained but when the chain broke, the elephant uses it's trunk to pull this poor guy b4 throwing him to the ground.

Who to believe? Who is more accurate? Or maybe the elephant was chained, chain broke, elephant started pulling the guy with his trunk, guy lost balance and got thrown off. So if this is the case, then technically The Star just did a summary while Metro reported it like a long case. lol.. Actually to find out the ans, all i have to do is clerk the mother tomorrow. hahaha..

And should someone inform The Star that they printed tusk as task? Regardless of whether the news is minor or major, long or short, i felt that as one of our leading mainstream newspaper in the country, such error should definitely not happen or to be corrected immediately.

Rumah Damai Visit

CG organized a visit to Rumah Damai, a home for the elderly located somewhere in KT. (like duh, haha). Truth is, i dno the name of that area but i can bring you there if you are interested. :)

#31- Worshipping in Hokkien dialect. All the residents there are Christians and there's only a total of like 8 residents in the home.

Besides interacting with the uncles and aunties and listening to their wonderful life experience, we also did some general medical examination for all of them. I just helped to auscultate the lungs and heart for the ladies but later on, Dr. SY will check them again to pick up any signs that i might had missed. And it's better to have a doctor to counterchecked.

MV was in charged of checking their blood pressure. After i auscultated all of them, very happy to say all the uncles and aunties lung and heart is clear of any abnormal or additional sounds. Yay! their main medical problem is basically hypertension or diabetes.

This is one of the room in the house. Very big and spacious room. Can easily accomodate 4 beds and the room is so neat and tidy.

Final group pic b4 saying goodbye. :)

Sometimes i cant help thinking way way ahead of what my life will be when im 60. I know that's kinda like worrying/thinking too much into the future, but sometimes when im lying there in the middle of my bed, counting sheep and toss and turn because i just can't seem to fall asleep (maybe because the weather is too hot..haha.. or due to some undue worries), i will tink of myself 40 years down the road and then i will start thinking of will i even be married anot at that time (what turf but hey, life is full of uncertainties ok).

And then there was once i think think think and it must had got into my subconscious or what and i dreamt that i was in an old folk's home surrounded by a lot of greenery and even a swimming pool. And the nurse taking care of us all is super duper fierce. More fierce than any of my fiercest teachers i ever came across with. She got this short, bob thick black hair, with big, round glasses, and a cane on her hand wherever she goes. (picture her and c, scary le)

And then when i try to watch tv, she will come turn off my tv cz she says it has past 9pm and it is suppose to be my bed time. And when i refused, she started threatening me with her cane and say she wont serve me cheese for the rest of the month. Weird dream. At 60 i wonder if i will still be eating so much cheese. haha.. But luckily only dream once. Maybe cz i had not been tinking for quite a while also. These days i fall easily into sleep once i plopped down in bed.

So, it was very nice to see that all the uncles and aunties are being well taken care of here and they each contribute to the hse by doing some chores. Of course, i think they will definitely miss their families and i don't understand why kids will ever wna put their parents into an old folk's home. I mean if you leave the old folks there like a day care centre, still understandable cz maybe u nd to work and u worry for their safety and it's gd also to have ppl looking after them like a babysitter. But to abandon ur parents there for good, why? Maybe the children shd tink of how they will feel 1st if next time their kids are the one who put them into an old folk's home. I can tink of some pros and cons but still, i definitely think that just as our parents had sacrificed so much to raise us up, we should also take care of them in their golden age for no matter how much we tink we sacrifice for them, it can never measure up to how much they have sacrifice for us.

By the way, Blessed Easter. :)

Ichiban Boshi @ Pavilion

Me and Ms at Ichiban Boshi

This is my 2nd visit to Ichiban Boshi at Pavilion.

When we reached there, it was about 6.30pm so there weren't many people yet fortunately.

We sat at a corner and started binging on the sushis. Seriously, the sushis there used to come in quite big portion and for RM 4 per plate, it is very very worth it but on my last visit there, the size of the sushis had somehow reduced but still i ate till my tummy almost burst. (yet i cant help it cz it's sushis!! :p)

Generally, i do still like the sushis there, one very unique thing is they associate cheese with a lot of their sushis.. hehe..

Cheese delight. One layer of cheese surrounding the rice, floss and cucumber :)

Crispy Spicy Tuna Mayo - made out of spicy tuna mayo, shrimp roe, pickles and spring onion

Fried spicy salmon - fried salmon, shrimp roe, spicy sauce and spring onion

Salmon sashimi

Hokkaido Maru

Chicken floss maki

Tuna mayo inari

Tamago sushi

Fried salmon skin - very good way of recycling the skins..

Chicken cold soba

Lastly, green tea ice cream with red bean and glutinous rice balls for desert

Other than the chicken soba, which we thought the chicken tasted very raw and had a strong meat taste, the rest are still pretty good. I give 3/5 for their sushis. :)

Chili's Mid Val

Chili's Grill & Bar. My, how much i miss that place.

So, when we were in KL last weekend, me and DD went to Chili's for lunch. It was so much better going to Chili's for lunch than dinner because the place will usually be packed with ppl during dinner time (especially during the weekends) and i used to wait like 30-45 minutes for a place.

#23 (3/4/09) - After placing orders for our food, we used the waiting time to take pictures. Yeala i posted #24 b4 #23. Now only wna update #23 and still got a few more overdue post to come. :p

For starters, we decided to go for these buffalo wings served with cool bleu cheese dressing. You just can't resist putting down those drummets once you start picking them up. So juicy and tossed to perfection.

Played around with the drummets and celery to give u a SMILE =)

My pick of the day - Grilled fish with tequila served with vegetables and rice. Not like there's alot of tequila taste in the fish but the fish is very succulent and i wish there is something like this here in KT.

DD's Mushroom Swiss Big Mouth Burger.

Three words to sum up our lunch at Chili's : Simply satisfying & filling. :)

PS : Whenever i look at these pictures, i fl so emo cz i will tink of my camera. It takes time to get over grief right? :p. The good news is, my camera can actually still take pic and it will turn out just as fine on the laptop. It's just the screen that is spoilt. The bad news is even though it is just the screen problem, i was told maybe also need about RM 500 and above to repair. Sweat!

To Anonymous (s)

Yes. You. The anonymous (s) who loves to remain anonymous.

I have decided...

that i shall still allow you to post comment under anonymity as you might be too shy to leave a name or maybe you are stalking me and do not want me to know who you are or you might be my secret admirer(s) (hahaha ;p) ...

BUT keep in mind that any negative comments that you leave on my blog or any action of yours that you think will hurt my feelings by throwing hurtful or discourage words at me is not working.

Why shd i be hurt by someone who don't even dare to have the guts to admit his/her identity? So, for those who are concern, worry not. Seriosuly, i couldn't care less of what ppl who don't have guts (balls) said.

I find it pretty amusing instead reading these negative 'feedbacks' sometimes. Feedbacks help me to improve myself and my attitude. And yes, i have a right to moderate the comments you leave on my blog because this is my blog and i can also choose not to reply to your accusations if you don't start to leave an identity so at least we can maybe have an opportunity to debate about your accusations knowing who each other are.

And lastly, i have my right for not replying your accusations/ comments i don't like in future.

So come out of your anonymous shell and start putting a name to your back. :)

My Take on Nuffnang Music Bash

As i sit here in my room typing this, my feet, my left feet to be specific is still hurting.

I just read Cleo's April issue in the car this evening and there was this one question they asked the bachelors that went something like this, 'If there is one thing you can invent for a woman, what will it be?'

Ah, why din anyone ans that they will invent killer hills that won't hurt a women feet no matter how long they put them on and walk 1000 miles in it? ;p

I attended Nuffnang Music Bash party Saturday night at Maison, KL. To put it the Rebecca Bloomwood way (Confessions of A Shopaholic, omg, if you girls had not watch this movie, GO watch!! I totally love the movie. It's so funny, humorous and i can totally relate to the movie even though she's definitely a bigger shopaholic than me :p. And to guys, you all will enjoy the movie too cz the 2 guys who went with me def did!), going all the way down from KT to KL to attend the party is like anticipating a LV or Gucci or Prada sales with 70% discount storewide only to arrive at the party and realized that there's only 30% discount.

Don't get me wrong. It's not that the party was not well organized bla bla bla. The party was pretty much well organized by both Nuffnang and Maxis Broadband and the sponsor was generous enough to gave out some fantastic prizes during the party. But, the fun part of it? I thought that can be improved even much further. Like have more interactive activities that everyone can get involve in besides the ice breaking session.Cz this is Malaysia. And Malaysians are never known for punctuality. So, for ppl that missed the ice breaking session, they can still take the opportunity to ice break a second time later. Like after meal, they can get everyone to do line dancing (or any other dance possible in a big group) where a song is being play and after each short verse, everyone exchanges partner and goes on. Perhaps this will be more time consuming but certainly, more interaction. I'm thinking of my IU day aeons ago. haha. Anyway, this is just my two cents worth of opinion-la.

I'm still glad that i had attended the party and experienced my first ever Nuffnang party and met some bloggers in real. :).

Actually, i think one of the part i enjoyed the most about attending this party was the preparation part. Because the theme this time was to impersonate a music celebrity, so we tried impersonating Avril and Lily Allen respectively. As for DD, you judge yourself who he impersonates. Nothing beats getting dressed up and dolled up with your bestie. Girls understand girls best when it comes to dressing up and dolling up. Guys point of view and girls point of view are somewhat different, so i had both point of views this time. hehe..

#24 - The preparation to transformed ourselves into 'celebrities'. This is the only large mirror available in the house

After some time transforming, we finally grace the red carpet. :D. This pic is not the clearest, but i like.

Me and Siew. So many other bloggers around

Avril Lavigne, Lily Allen, Posh Spice and Sharine just being herself (or maybe Boa wannabe?) hehehe

I'm not sure if they are impersonating Guns and Roses or X Japan but well, certainly a lot of effort being put into dressing up too

During eating time, some bloggers take the opportunity to mingle around

I love my pink hair! ooo.. too bad can't have pink hair to hospital. But, if can very chio le.

After dinner, was some games. This was the first game. All you have to do is sing a song, then at the end of the song, hold it for as long as you can aka the sing-a-song-then-hold-your-last-word-of-the-lyrics-as-long-as-you-can game. (as called by the winner of this game, bryanlyt). This girl is call Natalie and she can sing very well also. She and Bryan won this game for their category respectively. Now we know who has large lung capacity. :p

For this game, they are supposed to mimic the first 1 minute of Beyonce's Single Ladies music video dance moves (like in the mv above) and the guy and girl that mimics best walks home with an Armani belt each. So song. (hokkien for good, shuang, bagus)

Staff of Nuffnang also performs

The Nuffnang jai hos -doing the jai hos of the end sequence of the movie Slumdog Millionaire.

Nominees for best male celebrity impersonator. From left : John Lennon (Yatz), the host (he damn funny and cute), Eminem (Huai Bin) and Bob Marley (Julian)

Nominees for best female celebrity impersonator. From left : Pink (Jolyn), Lady Ga-ga (also Jolyn) and Britney Spears (Cindy)

They gave out drumsticks and gold class movie tickets for the most uninspiring blogger award. Shd had work harder to try to win that. lol

And then to the worst impersonator, there's a broomstick and kononnya it's a Malaysia version Harry Potter's broomstick and also gold class tickets.

To wrap up the night, the final awards go to Bob Marley - best celebrity impersonator overall. Really look like. haha

Lady Ga-ga - best dressed female. I wanted to go as Lady Ga-ga initially so it excites me to see her able to get the long silver hair :p

Best dressed male - Mr. John Lennon

To sum it up, i had definitely anticipated something bigger, something more (because i came all the way, 6 hours of ride and the risks involved). Even though it had not turned out to be what i had 100% anticipated, but i thank Nuffnang for the opportunity and experience. I did had my bouts of fun too. :)

PS : Anyone knows any way we can get the photos from the photographer that took photos that night? Tell me k. Thanks loads :)

PSS : Sorry if i spelt/got your names wrong. Wasn't too sure bout some of them. :)
