I'm in The Star Newspaper

Yup. Today's newspaper.

I had not flipped today's paper until C told me that i am in The Star today. :)

So, if you guys had a copy of The Star today, turn to page M13 under Events. Hehe.

But, it's in Metro Central though so the copy i bought in KT don't have it and the copy my parents bought don't have it either. :(

So, if you are in KL and had a copy of today's paper, save a copy for me ok? :D

The good news is, the article is also available online at The Star Online. (click to read)

Or read it here straight from my blog la. Got my face and got my name too! It's not everyday my face appears on newspapers so really excited to read the article. haha. For a while, i thought that the event will never be in the paper. Surprisingly, it was in the paper finally. hehehe.. :)

Manchester United in KL!

KL, no to be exact, Bukit Jalil National Stadium had a sudden influx of red madness last weekend. Since Friday, Saturday and then Monday. But Saturday was definitely the peak. More than 85000 ppl flocked to the National Stadium because Manchester United was in town! Don't have to be in Manchester to watch Man U. In KL also can. :p. All Man U merchandised was selling like hot cakes.

I know, this is such an outdated post. Everyone knows by now Man U was in town. But i was very busy last week and i got so many things to blog about actually but i think i better blog about this 1st (for my own personal remembrance sake) b4 it gets so old that i can't rmb the feeling anymore.

Malaysia - the first country of Man U Asia Tour 2009.

To be honest, i was a Man U fan when i was younger than somehow i was influenced to changed side and i became an Arsenal fan and gosh, it's been so long since i kept up with all those football news that i'm sitting on the fence now. And after watching Man U played that night, i might switched back to Man U again. muahaha..

Wait, i'm not betraying Arsenal. Not yet. It's just ppl change, likings change ( you know like how you use to like the way the club plays but now, not anymore cz their tactics just don't appeal to you anymore).

I did not even decide to watch the match until the very last minute. Cz we were staying very close to the stadium and we had nothing else to do for the rest of the evening and because DD is a HUGE fan of Man U and i know he would love to see them play live (it's like all guys dreams to watch their fav team play live if possible in their very own stadium at least once in their lifetime it seems) and because i might get to catch a glimpse of Michael Owen rite? haha. I know Owen is not exactly the hottest guy around now but he is still cute what.

We bought our tickets at the stadium itself and we got ourselves the RM 58 tickets which was the cheapest one and furthest away. But never mind if it was the cheapest or furthest, at least we got a chance to watched them live. Some of their fans, like the Indons don't even had a chance to watched them play at all because of the bombings so for that, i felt very lucky already.

We were coming back from KLCC after lunch and as you guess it, the whole lrt was filled with red. RED everywhere. RED rules the city for a day. Practically, as you turn left and right, front and back, you'll be swamped around by people in red or black or white. But 90% was in red. The whole lrt was so sardine-packed with redness that if you have phobia to red, sure cry one.

Bukit Jalil National Stadium. We were smart enough to get our return lrt tickets when we reached so we don't have to queue super duper long later. :). But our mistake was forgetting the binoculars. If you are watching any match live at a stadium and unless you are seated like super near, don't forget your binoculars. You do want to see those players face up close rite. Not just small images that you can barely made out who is who.

Almost everyone turned up was singing 'Glory glory Man U'. What happens to our patriotism huh? haha. But, no fret. There's still one or 2 stalls around selling Malaysia merchandise in case you are not a Man U supporter and really hope (better hope harder next time) that Malaysia will thrash them. Or just wna show Malaysia some support. Or if you want the camera to be focusing on you. Cz the camera kept focusing on this group of Malaysian supporters which was like 5% of the whole stadium. haha

Obviously, there are stalls that sells the official Man U Asia tour merchandise as well.

Yay. Our official Man U Asia Tour shirt. :). The whole stadium ppl was wearing Man U shirt/jerseys, so you don't want to get bash by wearing Arsenal or Liverpool or Chelsea jerseys rite.

But apparently, he don't mind taking the risk of being bash up.

The line up for Man U first half

Guess who the crowd was cheering for as they made their grand entrance into the stadium? You knew it, dont ya? hehe

Told ya, a sea of redness. Took this from where i sat. It was hot, it was red, it was crazy and the players look tiny.

Even after maximum zoom, i still can't focus on just one player without the picture turning out blur. Even after maximum zoom, they still look small and blur. And i can't really make out their face in the pics. In real, can see better of course. But while they are moving around, kicking and running, it was easier to recognize them by their build and style. Or easier still, just look at the big screen. :p

Felt such a pity that all following pictures are not clear and you gotta look out for the players number to know who they are.

Can spot Wayne Rooney? Malaysia's goalkeeper blocking an attempt by Wayne

Malaysia's first goal. Don't play play. Malaysia did not lost 6-0.

The guys in blue jerseys are the Malaysia team. Celebrating their first goal.

Action on field.

More action. So blur right the pics? Man U was attacking most of the time and Malaysia was defensing most of the time. But, really Man U did not play to their best that night. Kinda a disappointment.

Iin the 2nd half, Ferguson finally decided to put Owen and Giggs into the field. How the crowd love that moment. They just cheered and screamed all the way. And i get to see Owen in real! And the best part was he was the striker so he was standing near the goal post most of the time near where i sat. :D. Alas, he love to give me the sexyback. Almost all the time, it was his back i saw not his cute face cz he got to watched out for the ball.

Can see anot his sexyback (although not very sexy also.. haha)?

The final score for Man U vs Malaysia first game

It had been exciting watching their game live, it had always been exciting watching games live. The cheer, the shouts, the sweat and the madness. Reminds me all over again of my first time at the Athens Summer Olympics! :)

Watsons YOU Awards Season 2 Grand Finale

Group 1 win, win, win!!!

*WARNING : LONG POST AHEAD (but interesting one. Or if you like to know about my journey throughout the Watsons Competition or if you want tips to participate in Season 3 :p)

The grand finale was held at Sunway Pyramid last Sunday.

It had been sort of a long journey since i first signed up, got selected unexpectedly, undergone the various challenges and finally, being up there on stage, trying my very best to calm all excitement and nervous nerves down.

There were four parts altogether for this competition and all 4 parts played pivotal role in contributing to our winning (or not) in our category. Each part carries a certain percentage in what makes up 100% at the end of the day. The 4 parts consisted of the interview (which i only knew after the interview), the Watsons challenge, the voting and finally on the day of the Grand Finale itself.

For those that do not know yet, the Watsons YOU Awards were proudly brought to you by Watsons and various sponsors and this is the 2nd time Watsons organize this competition. There were a total of 8 categories altogether; Healthy Hair, Friendly Face Female, Friendly Face Male, Engaging Eyes, Luscious Lips, Fit Figure, Body Beautiful and Hip Hairstyle Awards.

I decided to signed up for the category that i least expected myself to win actually and with 4 weeks to go b4 my exam, i went down to KL for the interview. The interview was ok, i thought i did pretty well, but you never know. The good news was, i got through and was selected as one of the 3 finalist in my category. When i saw my other 2 competitors, that's when i realized i'm in a real competition running side by side 2 other beautiful ladies with stunning figure as well. I mean like seriously, me with beautiful figure? It just never cross my mind before! haha..

The shock came when i knew that there was a Watsons challenge where we were divided into groups and were given 3 items to promote at one of the most happening mall in KL. I mean this was totally unexpected and i had to decide there and then whether to proceed on with the competition or to withdraw because it would mean burning extra cash, time and energy. Since the winning prize was only RM 3K, i truly did not want to spent a bomb cz at that point in time, i wasn't even sure yet if i could win. I mean i want the money, i could take up my long waited scuba diving licence with the money, sponsoring part of my bro's phone, covering those transportation and cost for the challenge and whats not. But yet, I was more concerned of the traveling part because it meant i had to travel down to KL again the following week and it's only 3 weeks away from my exam and i had not started reading anything when i know so many ppl are studying like so hard at the moment. It was very stressing but i did not want to quit after having to go through the 1st phase already and so i stayed on, contacted with my group mates through email and fortunately, i had a group of amazing group mates who are very easy to talk and discuss with.

We met up the following week and for the very 1st time i met all of them (except R who had her internship) at Watsons Pavilion. After communicating a week with them only through email, it was exciting meeting them and true enough, they were wonderful ppl. We had a long day in heels promoting 3 products from 3 of our sponsors and we were judged.

Then a few days b4 exam, i got an email that briefed us about the grand finale and were told that we had to come up with a 2 min performance with our group mates. I was stunned cz at that moment, we were all over Malaysia and we had our holidays and plans and i really wasn't sure how we were ever going to practice whatever performance we were going to do. I don't know why but i was so pumped up with adrenaline that i couldn't slept for the night, i could't study, i just couldn't do anything other than thinking of what we could do for our group performance and my attire as well. Cz we were initially told that Watsons would find us sponsor for our wardrobe but the email state that we had to provide our own wardrobe and will even be judge on that! It's not that i do not have enough clothes or do not trust my sense of fashion (ahem) but it's just maybe i had too many clothes that i don't know which to choose. :p

Exam came and go, holidays came and i was very much occupied with my holiday in KK and Bangkok and suddenly Watsons went out of my mind until i was back in JB and i saw the email about meeting up on the 18th (which was honestly the day right before the finale). Ok, so one day b4 comp will be the day that for the very 1st time, we were going to meet and practiced our group performance. And we were going to dance! Gosh, i am ever nervous performing on stage and no matter how many times i performed on stage, each time gives me the goosebumps and to dance in front of the public? Ok, that was really a new experience but as i had said, i'm already in this, i can't quit so i can only go all out. Like it's only 2 minutes, so right, i supposed 2 mins wouldn't caused that much damage.

Surprisingly, i slept pretty well throughout the night and everything from head to toe was done by ourself for the finale. From the hairdo to the make up to the clothes we wore and the shoes we put on. I was at Sunway pretty early that day and the stage was set up and there were booths all around the concourse. Some other contstants were already there as well and really, i was surprisingly calm on that day. I mean i was nervous and all, but not to the extend that my knees could shake cz that's what usually happens when i'm so extremely nervous.

Touching up our make up at one of the make up booth

We were group 1 so our performance was the first and the judges were all punctual so the whole event kicked off right at the dot. I had a few MJ lovers in my group and as a tribute to the King of Pop, we used MJ's songs for our performance. I don't know bout this, but i was just wondering if you readers are interested to watch our group performance. ;) I mean, me dancing in public.. hmm it's really funny can. I have mix feelings about this one so i just thought maybe you all wont want to see me dancing after all, so leave me a comment or email and let me noe if you all wna watch. So, if i know got ppl wna watch, then i will put up the video ok?

After the 1st round in which we were to dressed up casually, we changed immediately to our formal/ dinner wear. My choice of outfit and make up and hair do. Nothing complicated. Just a simple hair do and make up. Guess what? The dress is from Macha Sundae. :)

After our 2min performance, we had a short session as a whole group regarding our Watsons challenge the other day at Pavilion and each of us took turn to explain our theme, ideas, lessons gained etc.

The panel of judges. So many of them.

Next, it's time for our individual category. That is the host, Faiz asking me my question. We went up, did a catwalk, 4 poses and stood there for our question and answer session. I saw a lot of ppl writing down what they were planning to say to cliche question like 'why you should win'. But for me, i prefer spontaneity. It's not like i did not think about it, i did but i just choosed not to write it down in paper.

Then it was the brand quiz time. Brand quiz means asking something about our sponsors; my category was Body Beautiful and our sponsor was Nivea.

My heart was doing all the flip flops, thud thud thud, upside down thumping b4 i stepped on stage, but standing up there and looking at the familiar faces of my bro and frenz really gave me the support i nd to not panic and rmb what to say. It really meant so much.

Fortunately, the whole event went quite smoothly and even b4 4 pm, the event had ended. We had to wait only a while before we all went up for a final parade and waited for the result to be annouce for each of our respective category.

Once again, my heart did all those gymnastic stunts in that little limited space it has within my pericardium and i could barely take a breath as they annouce the winner.

I was very surprised not to mention on cloud nine as well when they announced that i won the Body Beautiful category. It was something i never imagined i could win 1 month ago and when i told my housemates i was going for this category interview, i was u know, pretty unsure myself so winning this was not something i expected but it was awesome and amazing. I just wanted to prove to girls and guys out there of what 'body beautiful' is. No doubt, having the hourglass figure is definitely the perfect beautiful body that makes even girls drool but i think besides the physical part that fulfils the criteria, it comes from the mind. It comes with confidence and being healthy.

Handing me my mock cheque. Woots!

With the managing director of Watsons, editor of Remaja magazine and Nivea representative

Winners of each category. Congrats to all the other winners as well ;)

With the panel of judges

All the finalists for Watsons YOU Awards Season 2

We had an interview session with the media ppl after the prize giving and photography session. Felt like a star for a moment. haha!

My diligent photographer of the day. Everything was moving so quickly that day, we moved on stage, off stage etc so it wasn't easy running around with just a compact camera trying to shoot all those movements.

Of course, friends who came that day whether for a short while or not meant a great deal to me. Your presence gave me the boost i need and seeing those familiar faces when you are about to panic definitely calm down the nerves to the roots.

My beloved good friend, Sarah who had chopped down her hair! Her new look for the new sem

Pretty May Vern who came just in time when the results was announced

Fit figure Jen, Eyes that will kill Dawn, yours truly, hair that shines with health Sudha and ever hip hairstyle Philip.

I was very happy to meet these darlings. High school friends

The bunch of cute ppl that stayed from the beginning to the end, who were cheering for me all the way.

And of course some ppl like Ed which i did not managed to snap pic with. Thank you so much for coming, for lending me your support and to all others who believe in me all the way, for the support throughout the comp and for being there for me. Thank you so much. I truly appreciate that. A friend in need is a friend indeed. :) And how can i forget my family. Without their constant support and encouragement, i don't think i will be in this comp in the 1st place. I felt so blessed to have all these ppl i love to be encouraging me.

At least, the hard work and tiredness paid off. It had been yet another fantastic experience participating in this comp and the amzing ppl i met who helped me along the way.

It was a lot of work, a lot of time and a lot of energy but i was glad i decided to stayed on and went through. :)

Bishop's Head

Before our climb up Mt. K, we stayed a night at Mesilau Nature Resort which belongs to Sutera Sanctuary Lodge. Actually, all accommodations whether at Timpohon or Mesilau had been monopolized by SSL which is reall frusfrating and irritating because hiking up Mt. K is getting expensive due to this reason. In the past 1 or 2 years, climbing up Mt. K will just cost one about RM 100-200 but now, it will cost you at least RM 600-700. We managed to get it about RM 500 plus because we had DD's friend who commonly booked climbing Mt. K package to helped us book our package.

The 3 days 2nite package included 1 night stay here at Mesilau. The reason why we stayed at Mesilau when we are climbing from Timpohon (there are 2 gates into climbing Mt. K. One is the Mesilau gate which is longer but more scenic and the Timpohon gate which is easier and shorter but more boring) is because our initial plan was to climb from Mesilau but at last min request, we managed to changed to Timpohon.

Mesilau Nature Resort itself is a pretty big area and the very lodge that we stayed is called the Bishop's Head. Cute name huh. :p. It was raining when we got there, so soaking wet and with umbrella in one hand lugging our luggage, we trudded into our lodge. Fortunately, the place was very clean and our room is big and spacious and comfortable. There are also room heaters to keep us warm but not enough to keep us warm throughout the nite. As night approached, the temperature kept falling making sleeping pretty difficult because of the cold and i had to put on my turtleneck, long Johns and windbreaker just to sleep! Some of my friends even put on their winter gloves to sleep.

One thing about water heaters there was, while i was taking my shower, the heater was initially functioning and i was having a very comfortable bathe. You know, with the cold surrounding and you just stand under running warm water and i just wished to stand under the running water for as long as possible because it was just so comfortable especially after soaking wet here and there and shivering in the cold. But after conditioning my hair, to my horror, the warm water turned cold suddenly although the water heater is still running! Like ice cold. Very cold. I barely stood there for 1 min and all i want is jumped out of shower. Very unpleasant ok. The tap water was no better. The side that is hot was burning hot that it can scald you and the side that is cold is ice cold that it can gives you frostbite. So, to washed my face with warm water (cz ice cold water stings the face as well), i used my hand to collect some cold water 1st then turning to the hot water for a few secs and at least there was some warm water.

Digi had pretty bad reception here so had to look for specific spots for reception. DD holding an umbrella to shield himself from the rain while standing rooted to that spot for only that spot had reception. The yellow man apparently follows us to a certain extent only. :p

The side view of our lodge at 6.45am.

The other Bishop's Head. Our lodge are surrounded by all these tall trees and wilderness. Very English like and very nice actually.

*Our room. 3 double decker bed for 6 person. The sheets are very clean and the blanket are fortunately thicker than the one provided at D'Villa.

* The common area but no tv. There's also a kitchen and dining area provided.

We had to walked up a pretty steep slope to Bishop's Head. Walking down, we saw this lush greenery surrounding us with the mountains behind. Very beautiful sight.

*Breakfast only starts at 7am but we were there even b4 they opened so took some pics of the surrounding. Very English like. I like. :)

The front of the restaurant where we had our buffet style breakfast.

* A waterfall can be seen from inside the dining area

Us at breakfast. Trying to finished our food in half an hour.

* The restaurant also had by the window table like this. Imagine sitting at that corner for breakfast and the amazing view you get. Breakfast had never been more inviting ain't? haha

We were also provided packed lunch for our climb which consisted of cheese and ham sandwiches, popiah, an egg, an apple and a can drink.

Fully energetic after breakfast, we traveled about 45 minutes to the HQ to meet our guide and started our climb up Mt. Kinabalu. :)
