Coconut Ice Cream

I went to the gym today but ate fish head curry for dinner. Cause it was raining. So fish head curry on a rainy day is super shiok. But then, i suppose i just ate back whatever i had burnt. T_T

And i'm craving for ice cream now. In the middle of the night b4 i go to sleep. But no ice cream around now. So, to compensate my craving, i'm gna show all you some ice cream pic. To be exact, coconut ice cream! Yay. I tried coconut ice cream for the first time in Bangkok at Chatuchak. It was a very hot day and after all the massive shopping and squeezing inside Chatuchak, ice cream is the perfect desert. Very creamy, very rich texture and very coconutty. The best part of all, it's only RM 2 for 2 scoops. Yum :D

Coconut ice cream served in a coconut husk with coconut flesh.

And peanuts. Enjoying my coconut ice cream. Mum wanted me to wear mask in Chatuchak cz a lot of ppl there. She scare i get infected with H1N1.

Close up pic of coconut ice cream. Yummy yum yum. *licks*

I Want Anna Sui Moisture Rich Base Makeup

I was really excited and thrilled when i read about Anna Sui Moisture Rich Base Makeup Fall 2009 collection from Tongue In Chic. And whats more exciting is that TIC is giving away 5 sets of Anna Sui Moisture Rich Foundation Makeup and Colours to 5 lucky readers! Whoa. I had never done any makeup post b4 cz i never thought i'm good enough at makeup to give makeup tips yet. (notice the yet? Maybe after more 'coloring' of my face then maybe i can start giving makeup tips to beginners, then i will write such posts :) ) But what i do know is that, base makeup foundation is very important. To me, it is the most essential item in makeup.

If i can choose to have the face skin of anyone in this world, i will like to have Sammi's one from the SK II ad on tv. It's because right, in that ad, her skin is so flawlessly beautiful and it glows, shines and radiates so healthily and vibrantly that it makes me want to go grab that bottle of SK II straightaway. There's not a single acne, not a single fine lines, you can't see a single fine hair, not a single blackhead,a single freckle and you get my point. And the most important thing is that her face looks so natural, as if no makeup was apply. Now, that's the beauty of natural make up.

Natural beauty to me is looking pretty, alluring and attractive even without makeup on. It's looking at a girl in her most original self. Like even if she just got right out of bed and still look pretty. Or after a massive workout and still look pretty. They are born lucky with already nice features. And even luckier if they have smooth, glowing, healthy skin like baby's bottom to accompany their features. The best place to seek for natural beauty queens will be at schools. Cz no primary and secondary school students wear make up to school one rite?

Flawless beauty means a perfect beauty queen. You can't find any flaws in her. From outside to inside, she is just so perfect. No matter how hard you try to find flaws in her, she is just flawless. Nola, what i actually mean is that her physical appearance, mainly the skin is flawless. Perfect skin with no imperfections whatsoever. Porcelain-like skin. Again it is correlated to natural beauty. Cz these very lucky girls have skin that is so so so smooth, radiant and soft naturally that it makes me so envoius ok. Come to think of it, it seems only in Barbie world or anime world, we can find natural and flawless beauty. Cause Barbie don't makeup yet she is already so pretty and her skin is perfect.

Imagine , what if you were given a chance to create a natural and flawless party look for Anna Sui dolly girl this Autumn? Awesome right. Now, with looklet, we can create any look for any occasion. Of course, any theme for Anna Sui party will be black and purple, the Anna Sui colour :p.

I had been playing with looklet for the past few days (now you know how i occupy my time) until i think my eyes are so bedazzled by black and purple clothes and accessories already. But quite fun also. You can also choose your own models and background and actually can even choose the effect like black and white and sepia etc. I came up with 6 looks altogether.

Look # 1 - Click picture to enlarge. Front, back and potrait view.

Look # 2

Look # 3

Look # 4

Look # 5

Look # 6

What if you are like me? Not so fortunate to have flawlessly beautiful skin? Or even with flawlessly natural skin, you still want to protect your skin? Well then base makeup foundation is the key to helping us and also the dolly girls achieve that naturally-looking and flawless look effortlessly. We want to look flawless but we all don't want to look to made-up right? Like having layers of powders or colours on our face. Makeup is actually just like painting or coloring. So, foundation is the most important facet to makeup cause it is like the blank canvas where all colours will be applied on it. Foundations can help to hide facial imperfections such as pigmented areas of skin, scars or depressions. And it helps to protect our skin from the sun, dryness cause by air-conditioner and even the wind. With Anna Sui Moisture rich base makeup foundation, it can not only help us to achieve flawless and naturally-looking skin, it also nourishes our skin with their anti-oxidant botanical extracts. As our skin are being nourish, it will not be dull-looking and our skin can radiates brightly and healthily. And we all can have Sammi's face skin on the ad without editing done. :)

C-O-C-O-N-U-T

When my bro was in kindergarden, he came back one day and sang the 'coconut song' and it was getting addictive by the day. Cz u get to do the action at the end of the song which is quite funny when u were 9 years old.

I can barely rmb now how the song goes but i noe at the end of the song, you spell the word 'coconut' as in c-o-c-o-n-u-t and you use your fingers to do the letters.

I tried roasted coconut when i was in KK. After spending a few hours walking by the beach in Rasa Ria (Shangrila KK), we were all very thirsty. And the weather was so hot. And May's friend told us roasted coconuts are one of the must try in KK.

Around KK town, i don't see any roasted coconuts at all. In fact, i never saw one or tried one b4 that. Apparently, only at Tuaran you can find these roasted coconuts. I forgot the street name dy but all i know is it's along our way to Rasa Ria and can see the singboard that points to Tuaran crocodile farm. (But if you all want to know the street name, just email me. I will ask May or my godbro where is it!). We din know which is the best stall to go as there were soooo many stalls side by side, each having a signboard that has either a coconut or roasted coconut on it and can even see some chao-ta, burnt coconut. All black dy. Don't think can eat anymore.

Rule of the thumb is, if you dno which is the famous stall or which is the one that will 'ketuk' (charge you more than you should pay jz cz they know you are not locals from your appearance, dressing, accent etc) you, then go to the stall that has the most number of customers. Don't go to the stall with no one inside and you can see abundant unsold coconuts. Cz the one with the most customers is obviously one that is not only nice but also reasonable. At least, this has been true for me so far. Unless all tourists gets cheated together. Like you see one stall with ppl (a) and the other stall empty (b) and following the rule of the thumb, you go to (a). But truth is, (b) is actually nicer and more reasonable than (a) just that the ppl who was in (a) are also tourist and they randomly went into (a) and you follow suit. Then other tourists who follow rule of the thumb also go into (a) so like the blind leading the blind. lol.

Weather was so hot and i was very tempted by all the varieties of coconut they offer.

Coconut pudding in coconut. RM 4. But damn big le the coconut. Like 3 times the coconut i usually see. And freaking nice. Just out from the ice box, still had ice on it. Feel like eating one this very minute!!

Once you open up the coconut, it is filled with pudding entirely. The one beside it is also coconut pudding, but in cup. (RM 2). But my advice is, go for the one in coconut. Can share with your frenz or family cz very very big. More shiok eating from the coconut. (and got coconut flesh)

Normal coconut. This is call 'kelapa sejuk'. Got another call 'kelapa muda'. Maybe the muda one smaller than this sejuk one cz sejuk one is RM 2.50 and muda one is RM 2. Absolute thirst quencher.

And finally, the starlet of our visit to the coconut stall.

Roasted coconut!! (Kelapa Bakar) RM 2.50.

I thought after being roasted, the water will decrease but apparently not. There are 2 version. One is the inside still remain white, tender and smooth and the water is still clear.

The other is that the coconut flesh had turned brown and even the water is a brownish-red color. At first i thought it was just the reflection of the coconut, but after comparing both roasted coconuts, realized it's really 2 version.

But whether the flesh and water change color anot, the taste is almost similar. The flesh of both coconuts after being roasted are more chewy and rubbery and less sweet. The water are sweeter and have this 'roasted' taste but the one that change color tasted better than the clear one. According to godbro, u can act ask them to bakar your coconut until the inside also brownish. The roasted ones are also served hot by the way. The coconut water was like boiling water. Have to blow mouth by mouth before drinking. I think they purposely give us 2 version to try.

Can see the differences between both roasted oconuts?

Honestly, i dont really like the roasted one. Maybe cz it's hot and the weather was hot but mainly it's because i don't like the more rubbery texture and 'roasted' taste of the water. My starlet is the coconut pudding definitely! :D

This is how the stall look like. They also sell some fingerfood and snacks to go along with the coconuts. Oh, and this stall owner had a squirrel as their pet. So cute seeing the squirrels chewing on the nuts.

Overall, the coconuts were so juicy, big and definitely make us happy after drinking.

After all the coconut talk, let's all hear a coconut song now, aye? :)

In Remaja August Issue and The Sun Paper

Su smsed me early morning today and told me to go get a copy of Remaja for this month. And i was like, 'Huh, not next month Sep 15th issue? Now only August right?'. For a moment i was like 'Wait, is this August or is it Sep?' cz i'm still in partial sleeping mode, like in a stupor. Then Su just insisted i go get a copy and i will know why. So, i got myself a copy of Remaja. Gotta admit this is the first copy of Remaja mag. After flipping through, realized it's almost similar to the English Seventeen mag, got fashion tips, make up tips, beauty tips, events coverage etc but they featured mainly local celebs.

So, in this month Aug 15th issue, they had a page filled with personal details of all the winners :) But all in Malay.

And guess what i came through while randomly surfing through the net the other night?

An article in The Sun about the grand finale! And even more surprise that i saw my pic there. But a good surprise. hehe. *wink*

Hot Hot

In places where mamak can't be any more commoner; where mamaks like Murni, Steven's corner, William corner etc exist, Hot Hot is like the dwarf compared to these mamak giants.

But then again, i'm in turtleland remember? So, to be fair to turtleland, i want to share what turtleland also has to offer other than their lack ofs!

In turtleland, mamak is not quite a common affair actually. Malay food, yes, in abundance. But not mamak. And good mamak that has good food with reasonable price is even more rare. And don't expect 24 hours mamak here. No such thing. People in KT leads healthy lifestyle one. Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy and wise. lol!

But there's one mamak situated some 15 min away from KT town, very near to the airport, right after the 2nd last traffic light to the airport which is i think one of the best mamak in KT. One look from outside, this mamak has no signboard whatsoever. I used to call it no signboard mamak, but my friends told me it is called Hot Hot (although i never saw any sign with that 2 words on it b4 there). A lot of UMT students hang out there one.

What i like best in Hot Hot is their curry puffs. :D. Everything about the curry puff is nice, from the crispy crust to the juicy potatoes filling. And you know how most normal curry puff (forget those that cost RM 1 ones) fillings always cheat their customers as you practically can savor the filling after eating halfway through the puff cz the 1st and last part of the puff is empty and you are only eating crust? But not with Hot Hot curry puff. They are best consume while they are still hot but not right out of the wok cz that'll be too hot.

# 155 (13.8.09)- Hot Hot curry puff. I like!

The filling. The curry also nice which is probably half the reason why the filling is nice.

Since i already blog about their curry puffs, then i will show all of you some other usual mamak food we eat there. Of course, they have more than just these, like nasi lemak, nasi goreng etc. The common mamak food basically.

Vadai. An Indian vegetarian food. Second to the curry puffs. But this one must see the mood of the person making it. Most days it is nice but on some day, not so nice.

Roti kosong. Actually when eating roti, what is important is also the curry that goes with it. Agree anot? Like when i ate it with their curry chicken, i felt that it is nice but when i tried their dahl, it sucks cz the dahl sucks. Too sweet dy, unless sweet dahl is your cup of tea.

Roti tampal. Funny but when i told most of my friends about roti tampal they never heard of it b4 and they thought that roti tampal and roti telur is the same thing. I don't think it's just a JB term right? Roti tampal is basically roti kosong with an egg pasted ON it. Roti telur is roti kosong with the egg IN it. And in JB, roti telur means come with onions, chillies etc. For me, i prefer roti tampal over roti telur. Nicer. If you never heard of such thing, next time u go to a mamak, just tell them roti tampal. They will know one.

Roti Bom with an egg pasted on it. I think the margerine not enough. But means less fat! haha

Chicken murtabak. I purposely overturn that piece so that everyone can see the chicken.

Maggi goreng. Just like every other maggi goreng but at least it is not so 'wet' like some maggi goreng

# 158 (16.8.09) - Mee mamak goreng. Ask for more 'pedas'. Good! Cheap and authentic mee mamak goreng.

As i said the mamak is by the roadside, but not on the roadside and it's just a very warung like mamak. Not in a shop.

Ok, so the next time KT folks wna try out mamak other than those in town, take a 15 drive. If you want directions, i don't think GPS can help you. But........

who needs some lousy GPS when you can have a real, life guide? :p

Funniest BST

Today i had one of the funniest bst ever. In fact, i think it's the funniest bst i ever attended. For the whole 2 hours, we were laughing non- stop.

For all my non-medical friends and prolly wondering what bst is, bst stands for bed side teaching. For every bst session, we take turns to clerk a patient to present to the group and a lecturer and we will discuss the case and at the end of each case presentation, we will be evaluated and given marks. And today is my turn to present a case.

I really don't like clerking ortho cases especially in the male ward (due to some previous bad experience, you see got some male patients they very 'miang' one and then they will kacau kacau the girls cz maybe they live in such ulu place that they never see girls b4 and dno how to be civilized when they see girls) but there's not much cases in the female ward. I was walking around the female ward for almost half an hour feeling very clueless of what case to clerk. There's a few fractures, diabetic foot and cellulitis cases but BT was already clerking a cellulitis case which he presented for the morning session and the diabetic foot patient already had an amputation and she was sleeping and anyway, all the female patient was resting and there's so few of them. So, i went into the male ward and 95% of cases was due to alleged MVA with fracture here and there. Sien. There's a Baker's cyst but also being clerked already. There was also cruciate ligament tear but i don't feel like clerking that case as i don't wanna perform all the drawer tests. (ya, i know i was picky). So, i walked around aimlessly wondering what case to clerk and then, i found a case of malunion of fracture. Not the most interesting case, but i was running out of time. (which in the end was not a case of malunion although that was what the HO wrote as the diagnosis!)

Anyway, the case i clerked was already clerked yesterday by another friend and also our senior and i found out im third person to clerk him. But, he was still so patient repeating his story probably for dno how many times. And halfway clerking him only i realized he was an active IVDU (intravenous drug user). See, i didn't looked at the case file b4 clerking so i didn't know. I'm not discriminating against active IVDU but IVDUs have high risk behaviour and we are suppose to take precautionary measures when come in contact with such patients cz of their risk of HIV, Hep B etc.

So, back to the funnist bst. Our bst was with Mr. S in the afternoon and 1st he found us a nice room where we get to sit instead of having to stand for the whole 2 hours and they are fixing the aircon, so hopefully, we get to use the air con soon (very hot in the ward, got fan only). haha. We all thought it will be just an hour bst since usually with hospital doc, it is always one hour but he used full 2 hours but it wasn't one bit boring and throughout the 2 hours, i did not lose concentration one bit. Maybe partly cz im the one presenting but aside from that i strongly think it is because Mr. S make the session funny and interesting. But maybe cz he is in a super gd mood today, i don't rmb our bst with him last yr was this funny. If only every ortho session is like that, i won't have to feel like i have to drag myself to ortho ward and maybe i won't find ortho so boring.

Seriously, i think the teacher/lecturer plays a very important role in helping us to understand and learn. I mean, yala we students also play a part but when you have a teacher/ lecturer who knows how to teach and make the class funny and interesting, we tend to be able to concentrate more and thus absorb more and not get so restless quickly like keep looking at our watch counting every min that past and by 12pm, usually, we can't wait to out of the hosp to go for lunch. No wonder people say a good teacher produces good students. :)

Mama Chop Papa Grill

You see. I got a problem. Yeah. A huge one. Whenever it come to case write ups, i can never get my hand to click open microsoft word. There are just so many other better and more interesting thing to do with your laptop right? Even if there's nothing else to do online and no one to chat with on msn or facebook, there's still the spongebob squarepants game or wait, i can always watch all my dramas i dl aeons ago. Basically, im just procrastinating from doing cwu. I wonder who love to do cwu. :)

Anyway, it was Dd's birthday few days ago. DD is older by another year with evidence of growing belly, greying hair and happy wrinkles. hahaha! Nah, not so bad la. How can a young man who plays futsal constantly at 23 years old look like a guy turning 40. haha.

So, on the night of his birthday, we had to rack our brains really hard again thinking where to go to have our dinner. Apparently, not much place to choose from. So, we think and we think, maybe we should just cook his fav food (mee suah) and eat at home in front of the tv and put a candle and tada, have our very own candlelight dinner. But we had class till very late that day and all we want is find a nicer place than usual so we can have a nicer meal.

In the end, we decided to go to this restaurant known as 'Mama Chop Papa Grill'. There are 2 branches in KT. One along the Marang highway near the Istana Terengganu that we always pass by and the other is near UMT. We went to the one near UMT cz the ambience there is nicer, although there are no air-cons in the restaurant, just fan and under the starry sky.

# 154 (12.8.09) - Mama Chop and Papa Grill Special combo. Deep fried boneless chicken, sausage cheese roll, bun, fries and beans serve with oriental sauce. The portion is just nice for one person and i like the way the chicken; very tender, crispy and fragrant and top with the sauce, it was very delicious actually. But the beans and carrots tasted horrible. Like they are still frozen. The sausage cheese roll was ok but i would had love it with more cheese oozing.

Grilled Cheese chicken - grilled chicken top with melted cheese and served with brown sauce, vegetables and fries. Again, i think the chicken was grilled quite well and it was juicy and nice.

Just the both of us

Overall, i like the chicken chop but i think the price was kinda pricey for the kind of environment. But, currently they are having 10% discounts for uni students (dno valid till when), so make good use of the chance. :)

# 153 (11.8.09) - Vic them bought DD his bday cake which is a Doraemon. So cute le the cake. Like for small kid birthday. :p

After all the huffing and puffing and the remaining people. :)

Happy 23rd Birthday DD. I hope you really enjoyed ur birthday and continue being ur happy, cute self! :p. * xoxoxo*

Magazine Photo Shoot

Over the weekend, i was in KL for the Remaja magazine photo shoot (look out for Sep 15th issue!). In case you are wondering Remaja what, it's a local fashion magazine with a minimum of 150k circulating copies each month. (i was told by F.. haha)

It was my first time doing photo shoot for a magazine and i was very excited and nervous at the same time.

I watched models doing photo shoots all my life on tv and never thought that i will be doing one one day but life is so full of suprises eh? :p

When i reached KL, the first thing that hit me was i forgot to bring any heels down with me. For 5 hours plus, i was sitting comfortably in the car, chatting, dozing away and totally forgot about the existence of heels until the very moment i was about to get out of the car and thats when i started searching for my heels and then i remembered. The two pair of heels i nicely took out was still sitting at home, in WT, in KT! Goodness. I was chiding myself for being so forgetful and blur. Or maybe it's a sign. A sign for shopping. To add on my shoes collection. That must be it. I'm not so blur one. :p

I'm going for a photo shoot and i did not bring any heels or shoes with me. Must be due to hyperstimulation of excitatory hormones. The only thing i had on was a slipper. How to wear slipper for photo shoot?? And imagine dressing up nicely on top and slippers at the bottom? Yucks. So salah can.

But luckily, it is KL, so at least there are always the malls around and the nearest mall to me was Mid Val. And fortunately the photo shoot was in the afternoon, so i still had time to made it to the mall 1st thing in the morning, grab my heel and made my way to Shah Alam.

This is the most expensive heel i have to date. This pair of bondage heel cost me RM 130. Treat it as my reward to my dear feet who suffered so much from all my climbing and walking. haha! I don't usually buy so expensive heels (my heels are usually rm 50-60, i only had like a few which is close to Rm 100 but never beyond RM 100) cz i will be so sakit hati if the expensive heel get scratch or chip or soak with water or step by someone that i probably want to protect them so much that they mite end up being worn only a few times and worse if the moulds get to them first. Charles and Keith is finally open in Mid Val and thats currently my fav shoe shop in town cz their shoes are very comfortable and fashionable. So much better than Vincci. Vincci shoes are mostly very uncomfortable and not to say cheap too. I initially went to Aldo to checked out their shoes but once i turned the price tag, i had to put the shoes back. Even though i wish to reward myself with a pair of nice shoe, but Aldo is still kinda over my budget at the moment. Next time maybe, after i start working.

It wasn't that hard looking for the place, thanks to directions by Nurul.

The make up room where the make up artist took an hour to do my make up.

The studio for the photoshoot. Look at all the lights, flashes, background.

I brought a few clothes for selection but somehow the person-in-charge wanted me to wear this set of clothes for my photoshoot. There were 7 of us but i was the first to go as i was the first to be ready. So, the studio lights were dimmed and i was told to start posing. I thought she would show me some poses as im totally amateur at this but I am all by myself. I started out a little awkwardly at first but soon after warming up, things were going pretty good and fun.

My fav of the bunch and i hope they choose this pic and not some other ugly pics.

My make up artist.

The hairstylist. She was supposed to help me style my hair but she said my hair is beautiful enough and don't nd to style or anything so she did not do anything to my hair! I regretted not bringing my hair spray cz i could had done something to my hair myself. I told her i wna add volume to my hair for the shoot, you know they will help you do it. I know hairstylists knows how to do that and i was hoping she could maybe curl my hair or whatever. Instead of the plain straight style but she said she did not bring any hairdryer and insisted that my hair is fine as it is. Pissed for a moment cz she is the hairstylist and if she just sits there and tells everyone their hair is fine, then whats the purpose of having a hairstylist around? But later she told me that she wasn't feeling very well, hence wasn't in the mood to style hair. Jeng Jeng @@

After everyone was done, we took a group pic in the studio. So happy to see them again.

Started to get crazy together

Really posers :D

Hung out together for tea/ dinner and shared some good time together. It had been so long since someone make me laugh like crazy and D (the girl with lotsa attitude and humour) entertained us with her stories so much that day that she got most of us rotfl.

Then after, me and DD went to Starhill cz we wanted to have dinner at Jogoya. DD had Jogoya vip member card but he had lost his card some time ago but Jogoya still sent him promotional sms for vip members from time to time and the latest one that attracted us was that DD gets to eat for free in the month of August as it was his birthday month. So it means we only had to pay for one person and that's quite worth it. But when we got to Jogoya, the assistant manager told us that we were not able to enjoy the promo as DD had lost his card. We asked him to helped us checked for DD details in their database and if possible issued us a new card and he said DD's name was not in the database at all. He thought that we were lying to him. Wtf. Why would we want to lie in the 1st place? And how come they don't keep their customer's data properly? So irresponsible one. One had to spend so much just to get the stupid vip card and after registering urself, they don't keep ur data properly. So, if you lost ur card, you lost all your privellege already. Where got such thing one? If you want to offer people membership like that, then you should value ur members. Keep their details properly. Simply simply keep customer details and then said cannot find anymore. Then what for ppl want to pay so much and eat in your restaurant if we know your restaurant credibility and service is so down standard? Not to say food super good until worth paying RM 101 per pax for a second time visit. ( maybe i revisit Jogoya one day again even without the vip card but for now. NO WAY. Lousy attitude, lousy service) Should had just went to Tenji. Ciz Ciz ciz.

The whole day was certainly very eventful, i was happy, then i was pissed then i was happy again. Sometimes, you just cannot imagine how so many things can happen in 24 hours.

I will end my post with some random close up pics i took for the day. :)

Now can see the make up clearly? :D
