Break from the Break

Really appreciate all the good luck wishes in my previous post. :) Thank you so much :) Im in very much need of lotsa luck. For a good case, for good patients and most of all, good examiners. Really, some examiners are just killers. You can present the same case to the nice examiner and get 80% and the 'killer' will just give you 60% if you are lucky enough.

And of course luck in the case that the things i study will come out and the things i dont study better not come out at all. ah, wishful thinking. As if that will happen. But since i was absent for almost the whole week, you all must be thinking i had been busy studying day and night rite?

Sadly, i wish that was the case. But i still had the whole crap workload of our research to do and being the Project Editor is no fun at all. How can i ever forget doing the editing is the worse part of all? But of course, so far my grp members have been such great help in making my editing job much easier and i truly definitely appreciate that.

I just finished translating my part for the abstract from English to Malay and i realized my Malay had definitely gone rusty. Words that were once at the snap of my fingers *cheh wah ahem* now requires googling.

Anyway, gtg. Need to cont doing the acknowledgment part and yes, i do feel that im slacking tooooo much. The internet is evil too. Way too evil. Gahhhh! Cont wishing me luck and pray for me k. Hugs. :)

The Exam Syndrome

Dearest all,

Yours truly is unable to update blog as much for the next 4 weeks because aside from being overloaded with a research project (okla actually i guess the whole research thing is not that bad now but it's still taking up time to do as well) , she is currently having symptoms of palpitations, nervousness, irritability, decreasing concentration span, lack of sleep, lack of appetite (increase in some) and at increase risk of developing deep vein thrombosis and angina attack.

Which sums it up to be a syndrome known as The Exam Syndrome.

Internal med, paeds, surgery, OG and Ortho are just some of the main topics she must and have to at least pushed them down her esophagus and have her gastric acid working on them. Comm med, radiology, ENT, A & E, dermato, ophthal and psy are the topics she will try to assimilate if possible. The total actual amount that one is suppose to squeeze into that tiny cerebral space of theirs is impossible to comprehend and enough to sent any med student into a state of coma if anyone is to attempt to attain that level of prowess. Minus of the ones that is of least importance, the number of alphabets, words, sentences and paragraphs to read is still able to make one go nearly bonkers.

So yours truly will like to thank all of you for your patience while she battles the Exam syndrome. She is happy that u guys/gers still drop by to show her love in the period of her absence. In the meantime, you can always read back all her long lengthy post (see, got purpose one why my posts usually are so long ;p) that u are too lazy to read or look back at her archives.

And she definitely appreciate all the well wishers cz she really needs those extra luck and any prayers for her to pass this horrendous Professional 2. :)

So long, i'll be back :)

My Hot Babes

I'm now at the end of my 2nd week of comm med, which means to say we are officially 4 weeks fr D-day aka Profesional 2 exam. *sigh*

How come we only got 2 weeks of study break? I mean our books are like endlessly thick, not forgetting a gazillion words, definitions and facts to rmb, how to fin in 2 weeks?? Sure, after exam will be very liberating, filled with much excitement and fun activities already lining up, but i need more than 2 weeks. Perhaps i shd start self ground and face the 4 walls from now on. @@

The thing is, after inputting too 'many' stuff, sometimes everything gets all jumbled up and everything seems to overlap everything. The worse part is when our memory can only retain 2% and leaves out the rest of the 98%. Argh.

On the good side, it means 4 weeks more and i can meet my beloved family and all my hot sexy babes back home. Woohoo. ;)

This was our last girls day out b4 i came back to turtle land. And we hung out at the exact same place we did on our previous girls day out. Perhaps we shd just make Seasons our girls days out hideout. As usual, we were the loudest, noisiest bunch cz we disturbed the peace of others with our constant chats, outburst of laughter and cam whoring :p

#1 - My hot darlings.

# 2

#3- This girl is one superb supergirl. Dont ever show her a vb, if not she will go crazy straightaway, our best commander, party/have fun like crazy but yet excel in her studies too.

# 4 - 'Diam diam ubi berisi' Joo Yee, bubbly Janet, mua and crazy funky Yen Lin.

#5 - With the 3 black musketeers. Cute Chia Sin, moo moo friendly and sensible Michelle and far sighted kind hearted Sui Theng.

#6 - Darling Joyce who is smart, disciplined and very very sweet.

#7- Shee Li, the cute fair girl who likes to take more pics than me. hehehe

#8- Skin fold examination. haha

#9

#10

#11 - Tigers in the Tiger year (pun intended)

#12- With my fav drink on Earth. hahaha. Roibo bubble tea. :p

I noe 4 weeks will come very soon too. Jeng Jeng Jeng. Stress!

So, to all who is also having exam during this period of time, good luck and happy studying. :)

I Miss You

I remember the first time i saw you walking on your four legs turning in circle by the empty quiet street,

I remember falling in love with you the minute i saw you,

I remember how cute you were when u stare at me with those 2 round eyes of yours with the marks above ur eyes,

I remember that time when we woke up and almost got a heart attack because the 2 mth old you had bitten the newspapers into bits and pieces and threw them all around the hse,

I remember the time when u decided to experiment on rubber and started chewing all our slippers making daddy very mad and gave u some very good spanking,

I remember that pitiful look on your face every time u got spanked because u did something mischievous,

I remember how you used to love running out of the hse every time we open the gate and make us worry sick because you were still so young and do not know the danger of cars,

I remember how ur fav past time used to be chasing after cars, competing with them as if u r the Ferrari dog,

I remember the heartaches you caused me just because you dont want to listen to me and ended up being grounded for months and cannot get out of the hse,

I remember how we used to play catching and you will knocked into me and cause me to almost fall over because you had grown to be heavier than me,

I remember the time when u gave us another heart attack by secretly tailing behind us and followed us into the shopping mall,

I remember your first car ride where you sat there frightened and cannot wait to get out of the car the min we opened the door,

I remember how u used to jump on us whenever we came back from holidays and happily wagged ur cute tail and welcome us with ur cute bark,

I remember those times when u look at me with your understanding eyes and put ur furry paw on me as a sign of comfort,

I remember those times when u were our warrior fighting off snakes, rats, birds and cats,

I remember those days when showering was ur least fav activity,

I remember we always had a hard time bringing you to ur shower and you will twist and turn while showering and shake ur body so hard we will be wet too as a sign of revenge,

I remember all the days when we used to go for walks and jogs and you protected me from any harassment or danger,

I remember how you will wait patiently for ur annual bday treat cz u noe its ur bday,

I remember how you smartly noes how to turn up at the kitchen whenever mummy cooks cz u noe she will feed u extra snack,

I remember always seeing you first thing in the morning whenever i open the door cz u'll be sleeping there guarding us all while we were safely in lalaland,

I remember the sounds u make when u chewed and grinded and how defensive u can get when it comes to your food,

I remember even in times when u were unwell, u still stood tall and strong and continue protecting us and loving us,

I remember calling your name each time i came back fr sch and had u running to my feet licking my stinky shoes,

Tonight i miss u especially much. I thought especially more bout you and i need you more than ever. I miss your comforting gaze, your ever knowing look and your warm hug.

Just as i finished writing this and looked back at the post i dedicated to you last year, i realized it's been one whole year. I think its more than mere coincidence of why u came so strong to my mind tonite. Of why i can feel my tears trickling at the thought of you. I believe you are with me here tonite. Just as much as i need you. I miss u. So so so badly.

Sam Tsui

It all started with a note my darling Joyce tagged me in on fb.

And when i opened the note, it was this song that she tagged me with. I found this mash version of Nothing on You by B.o.b ft Bruno Mars and Hey soul sister by Train super the duper awesome. Not being a hardcore youtube streamer, i actually don noe who Sam Tsui is. *This is kinda embarrassing really*. When the vid finally finished streaming, i was wowed. I tot his voice is superb. So i searched more for his covers and I can only conclude i love the songs he cover. Gosh. So i must share this goodness with all you readers out there. Im gna feed you all with more of Sam Tsui. Sit back and enjoy alrite. Even if the streaming takes eons, pls bear with it cz it is totally worth waiting the vids to load.

This video is freaking awesome, no? I forgot to also let u all noe that Sam Tsui actually has 6 other twins. And all of them can sing really superb too. Nah, kidding. In fact, this is the genius creation of Sam's friend, Kurt who with his genius skill, make Sam the lead, backup, harmony and everything in between. Amazing.

Sam's the shortest one here but really, height does not matter. hehe. I think these guys are simply entertaining and good. Super the duper good. I'm wowed. How come we don have such things here?

The very the amazing Sam. He's still a college student at Yale. Why am i not in Yale. hahaha. :p

This is like my laziest post cz its all vids but i just gotta share this. Now all who wish they are in Yale because of Sam Tsui say aye. :)

Finding Houses With No Address

Is exactly like looking for a needle in the haystack. Or the synonym of the mandarin idiom 'Da Hai Lao Zhen' (translated to be fishing for a needle in an ocean). Or like looking for a person without a head.

As part of our comm med research project, we also need to do interview based survey on selected residents in Kg. T (the village which our research is based on). But who are these selected residents? How are they selected? Well, this is the interesting part.

There's actually a few methods la of selecting our sampled population cz we cannot possibly interview every single one of them in the whole village. But we had to do random sampling (statistic kids shd understand the meaning of this, but for non statistic noobs its just some boring terminology really which just means a lot of work and frustration involved) instead of the much more convenient but maybe less accurate convenient sampling cz our much loved ahem ahem wanted us to do it that way. So with the great SPSS program, we got a list of our sampled population which we were to find and interview. Sounds fairly easy? NOT.

Beautifully designed flyers to be given out as well. Come 8th of May, if u r interested to get free health screening, play games and hear us talk, then u r most welcome too.

We had all been to the village once; to the village head man's house. And prior to dividing the areas to be covered by each of us today, a mapping had already been done and it was estimated that house A will be in this area, house B in that and so on. Which supposedly will be able to assist us in finding the said house with the selected resident from the SPSS to be interview.

But alas, easier estimated than reality. In the estimated map, everything looks clear and simple enough. In real, it's the direct opposite.

This was the road me and DD was to cover. The houses we were supposed to look for is supposed to be along or around this stretch of road.

We circled this entire stretch of road umpteenth times, both by car and by foot. One hour plus had passed but the houses we were looking for were nowhere in sight. Bayang-bayang pun tak ada. Why? Mainly because most of the houses in this village,

do NOT have an address. Like really, house A is just known as Kg. T... (the name of their village). House B is also known as Kg. T... (the name of their village too). Really cemerlang one. I wonder what happens when someone wants to post things to their place. The postman must be really hebat one.

if they do have an address, the address is not the same as the one determined by the land municipal council (or whoever who determines our hse addresses). The address according to the municipal council is based on their land lot but the address they actually stick outside their door is smt else. Like totally different addresses one.

Another cemerlang thing was in the estimated map, got all the road name nicely one. But in real, it's so hard to spot any signboard at all that can tell which road were we on. Really sakit otak and can faint one. I think even gps is useless in places like this.

Why cant the gov fix nice signboards that bear the road names in the village? Why cannot make them or give them an address that is standardized with the land municipal council? Looking for houses with proper and complete addresses in itself is already at times difficult. Some more wna look for houses with no address on a road with no road name and no one noes. It's really frustrating when you had to walked passed the same road dno how many times just trying to searched some invisible houses getting no where, no headstart as the clock ticks by.

Open burning in the area. The hazy appearance is the smoke from the open burning.

We decided to ask the locals for help.

But as i said, they also dno where's the hse we were looking for cz they only know the address based on what they gave themselves or the ones with no addresses, dont need to say.

Some more some of the residents totally ignored us. They were at home but the minute they heard us, they just shut their doors and dont wna choi us. Pretend like no one at home but the minute we walked away then they can come out from their house.

So sad hur hur. Got so many more to finish plus had to walked under the hot hot sun plus cannot find the houses plus hungry cz it's lunch time.

But you know what. Like everywhere else, thank God the number of unfriendly ppl was just that few. Most of the villagers were actually quite nice and friendly. They were willing to participate in the survey and tolerate our list of seemingly never ending questions and helped us finished our tasks in the end.

Most of the houses in the village are still wooden houses like this.

Damon's dung (don bother, inside joke with Mich). These are the moo moo dungs. They can be found in the middle of the road one then cars will go over them. Eeee..

Sights of the village.
They may not be as develop as the city is, but i think their life is much more tranquil and less stressful. They don seem to worry much about crimes in particular. Cz most of the houses do not have window grills, they can leave their windows open even with no one home and ppl can really look into their houses fr the open window, they don lock/close their gates even when they go out and they can leave their doors open wide and there's just one elderly or children at home. They are more healthy too i think cz they rear their own cows, goats, (fresh milk everyday!) chickens and plant their own vegetables and fruits. So organic.

Malaysia has no sakura but we got cotton tree. hehe. This cotton tree is blooming at it's max. See all the cotton flowers.

By the way, yes GIRLS, this is good news to you all. I noe we girls are often very conscious about our more voluptuous lower half, ahem buttock in particular. Well, one of this uncle i interviewed today said this,

'Kalau ada punggung tu bagus tau. Sebab kalau pesakit kencing manis tu, semua tak ada punggung. Tak percaya lain kali u tengok. Pesakit kencing manis ini semua flat sahaja. Tak ada curve.' (If you have a butt, it's a good thing. Cz diabetic patients all have no butt. If you dont believe me, see for yourself the next time. All diabetics have flat bottom. No curvature)

He said this in response to my question if diabetes can cause weight loss despite good appetite. What he mean by saying 'having butt' is actually when one is healthy and normal in size, our bottom are usually voluptuous but when one starts to really lose weight tremendously, they will lose fat and of course, lose the voluptuouslity, thus looking flat. What a good sense of humor. haha.

At the end of the day, i realized that it's really not easy for ppl who goes door to door trying to do survey/census or whats not. We usually just turn away ppl who comes calling or knocking on our door especially when we hear that they had questions to ask and such, whats more tink about if that poor fellow is actually secretly dying of thirst and dehydration. But really, after experiencing myself today the feeling of being turn away and rejected, i realized even if it's a few mins ppl are willing to spare to complete the survey, im grateful. Therefore, the next time someone comes with a whole list of questionnaire, i wont be too haste to turn them away. :)

BB Cream

Of late, there is a wave of gaga-ness over blemish balm or better known as BB cream.

It's like BB cream = all girls scream.

Whenever there's a new product invading the beauty circle, we girls will start to get curious and definitely will like to try out the products.

Like we really like to know how magical that product is, how good or even how bad it is. Like why is all girls going crazy over that product. We also wna noe. And anything that boast to be able to help us look better while minimizing damage to our delicate skin definitely get us all hype up and excited. :)

In recent years, i started experimenting with make up cz i found out the magic transformation 'colors' can do to one's face especially on days where i wake up looking like a zombie and needed to go out. So, just by painting some colors, i can turn from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. hahaha. (metaphorically speaking).

But, all these make up don just made u look pretty. Because our face skin is especially delicate, it is very prone to develop acne outbreak, blackheads and pigmentation if we don remove our make up properly. And even if we do remove them properly, some of these cosmetics itself (especially the foundations) contain ingredients that can clog up our pores, dry our skin, cause aging faster, carcinogenic blah blah blah. At the same time, im one that uses foundation each time i make up because foundation can help the rest of the make up stay on longer and it makes my make up looks more flawless. But, imagine all my pores getting more and more clogged up each time. Poor pores. They must be like suffocating and choking due to air hunger.

So when the BB cream wave hits the shore of Malaysia from Korea, i was definitely excited. An antidote to my suffocating pores. With BB cream i'll be able to release them from their suffocation. Let them be free and breathe easier. I'm not a BB cream expert but there have been so much talk about them. And all the talk about them had been good and positive.

From what i google, they said BB cream is moisturizer+ foundation + concealer all in one. It is said to be highly moisturizing so even without moisturizer, ur face can get all the water it needs. And they have anti-acne, whitening and anti aging properties which helps girls to stay more youthful and achieve baby smooth radiant skin. Besides they come with SPF so it also protects us from the harmful and damaging effect of the sun. Sounds too good to be true dy.

On top of that, if BB cream is also a foundation and concealer, than i don have to waste money buying foundation and concealer separately and when i travel, i dont have to pack 3 separate items but just grabbed one on the go. And BB cream is the foundation that do not clog pores. Fuyoh. All the benefits of this magic Korean product. More too good to be true.

Currently, i know they can be found in Etude House and Sasa in Malaysia. Not too sure if it is sold elsewhere. But when DD visited the land of BB cream origin last winter, i asked him to helped me buy back some BB creams to experiment with cz there's no Etude House or Sasa in turtle land (KT) here.

In this pic, i only applied BB cream with no concealer or foundation. See how fair my face is in comparison to my neck and how radiant and flawless they appear to be.

And he did. In fact, he bought me back two diff ones - one from Etude House, the other from Odbo. Im currently experimenting the goodness from the Etude BB cream and is only using perhaps 1/4 of the tube. Just had to gently squeeze a pea size drop onto my palm then slap it over my face like applying liquid foundation. My verdict so far is, it definitely makes me look fairer and more flawless. As for the concealing property, it doesnt work that well cz it cannot conceal my panda circles (haha) and i still can grow pimple. :p But then again, i cannot really comment on the anti acne, anti blemish or anti aging properties cz i had not been religiously slapping them on every single day. hehe.

But well, from today onwards, i'll be using them, my BB, beloved baby, more regularly to truly test it out. Then i can tell u all a more accurate verdict. hehe. Say in a months time especially now with all the stress and stuff, i certainly dont mind it work its anti acne (even anti aging) magic. :)

Slow It Down

The 2 alphabets in front of the 'OW' is suppose to be 'SL'. So the whole word is actually SLOW.

I wanted to say that my blogging has tremendously slow down of late. hehe.

And yeah.. thats my side braid hair again. :p

Anyway, our proposal presentation is tomorrow. Wish us luck. Because if all goes well 2moro morning, we can move on to the next part of our project. By Sunday, we will be out in the village doing our survey and hopefully everything can end fast because i need to start mugging already. Doing this whole research thingy is taking up too much time.

And my fon had officially died. RIP phone. I guess the infarct must had turned into cerebral hemorrhage or smt causing it to totally ko now. So it only means i had to buy a new fon now. Any recommendations? Best still if anyone wants me to do any fon review? hahaha. Im thinking between BB bold 2 or Nokia X6 or Nokia N97mini (the Raoul limited edition version looks quite chio) or maybe an iphone. So whatcha say ppl? Gimme some idea pls. :) But i think iphone is kinda outta my budget now. Had to save up for my Cambodia-Vietnam trip and Universal Studio.

I cannot wait for the holidays! Boo hoo hoo.
