Fullhouse

No, Im not talking about the Korean drama that stars Rain and Song Hye Kyo although that was like the Korean drama that had since got me addicted to Korean dramas. The Fullhouse I'm talking about in this post is a lifestyle store and cafe that I went to while I was down in KL 2 fortnights ago. I'm not sure if they are inspired by the movie anot, but their concept is certainly to mimic a modern day full sized house where customers eating in them will feel right at home.

We know there are several Fullhouse branches around KL, but we decided to check the one at Sunway Giza out simply because we had never been to Sunway Giza previously. I thought we could do some shopping after lunch but turn out, Sunway Giza is not much of a shopping place. Most of the shops are actually restaurants, 2 storeys high, huge and all. So, it's not surprising that Fullhouse is also a double storey cafe that gives off a very relax and kawaii atmosphere. I dont know why but whenever I think of Fullhouse, I link them to the word cutesy. Maybe because I really find the way they decorate their restaurant and the whole concept cute.

The exterior
The interior.. Chandeliers! Dont they feel like a very nice home. haha
Aside from food, they also sell candies, accessories, clothes and alot of other itsy-cutesy stuff.
The itsy-cutesy stuff corner. It felt like the bride's corner. Lol.
Among the accessories they sell.
This is actually their boutique. The boutique resembles a bedroom; complete with bed, clothes rail, wardrobe and dressing table.
More girly and cute accessories.
My dream is to cycle around in a bicycle like this in a quaint neighbourhood without having to worry about perverts or robbers or thieves, just with the birds chirping and the sun rising. haha
After exploring the whole cafe, we finally were ready to tuck in.
Felt like having something chocolatety that day so I tried their peppermint chocolate blended which was quite good. I expected it to be extremely sweet but it wasn't. At least you dont get like 'jelak' fast and the sweet chocolate was balanced by the minty peppermint.
Human Torch's latte. He said tasted quite normal only. The only unique thing was the coffee art. Lol.

Their menu is somewhat different from what other normal cafe has to offer because I think they fuse Western and Chinese style together. Like they have chicken chop with the chinese mushroom. I just thought it's kinda weird fusing Western and Chinese like that. It reminds me very much of my mum fusion of spagthetti with anchovies cooked the Chinese style when I was younger. -_-"'
My Smooties Fruities Fish - girlled fish with mash potatoes served with wolfberries, red dates and cranberry sauce. See what I mean? By fruit, they dont serve it with apples or orange or tomatoes but wolfberries.
Their grilled chicken chop is served with some sort of Chinese vegetables (I think its the Chinese mustard green) instead of the usual coleslaw.
BH's and MW's shared an Al Funghi spaghetti which is spaghetti with chinese mushroom.
Absolutely the mini. So vintage and cute.
There's this random stall right outside the cafe that sells all these Chinesey stuff and I find their umbrella so gorgeous. It would had went perfectly with my cheongsam, no?
Look, there's even carnations at the top of the umbrella. ♥

Overall, I didn't quite like the food maybe because I still find Western and Chinese fusion kinda weird. Nonetheless, honestly speaking, albeit the fusion, I find the food still okay, in fact it's a very refreshing variation to the palate. But I really ♥ the concept of the restaurant. It's really a nice place to just go chillax with friends and enjoy their relaxing and 'feel good' atmosphere. :)

Cristang

*warning : non-halal post ahead*

Is a restaurant I went to when I was down in KL for Forensics. Hidden in PJ Avenue 8, this restaurant definitely requires some hunting for. We got a little lost while searching for it because we didn't know where PJ 8 exactly was and actually had to pay parking to enter the area. By the time we found this little treasure, we were all starving max. The restaurant has quite a nice ambience, warm lights and all and of course, piggies everywhere considering it's a porky restaurant.

Appetizer - Devils on Horseback. Fancy name aside, it simply is bacon wrapping around asparagus cooked in their special sauce (which had wine if i did not remember wrongly). Super yum can. It is like very crunchy yet juicy at the same time. I want more!

W didn't felt like having a lot of pork that day so he went for the pan fried fish with pork slices. Seriously, although they are known for their pork (more specifically pork burger), but their fish is like super yum. I really love the fish at first bite. And mix it with those sauteed slice pork is just about perfect.
My grilled pork chop. The gravy is good, the pork is quite good when it is hot but it became more and more rubbery as it turned cold.
BH's Hickory BBQ ribs. It was like one super duper huge plate of ribs and it smelled so so good. It tasted quite okay but the meat was not tender enough though.
This is the highlight of the night - their super delicious pork burger *halo around burger* They have a few varieties of the pork burger, P1 to P7 or 10 (I cant remember) but this is the P7. That fat piece of pork patty was simply succulent and juicy. And top it with a slice of bacon and minced pork was like heavenly. Certainly one of the best pork burger I have tried in Malaysia.
Dessert was fried butter cake with vanilla ice cream. The butter cake is super yum too. Love it max especially when eaten with the cold ice cream.
Oink!
We definitely had a porkilicious time that night. And other than lots of good pork, I learnt a new word that night - Cristang. We had a little chat with the owner and he sorta explain that Cristang means Portuguese descendants that are not Portuguese nationals. Yeah, in case you have been wondering all along, Cristang is not the name of the founder (like Cris Tang). Well, I think this place certainly warrants a visit from all pork burger lovers. I will definitely want to go back there again to try out the other pork burgers. :)

Dungun Homestay

After almost 4 weeks (1 week of Forensic in KL and CNY break included) of living out of the suitcase, finally I'm back home here in KT. Living out of a suitcase can be really exhausting especially when you have to pack, unpack, repack, unpack, repack... yeah you get the drift. I mean undeniably it was fun having a change of environment, staying in a different place and acquired different experience from different hospitals, but at the same time, I guessed I still miss home. And in this case, as crazy and as unbelievable as I may sound, I was missing my KT home while I was in Dungun. (Because Dungun nearer to KT) After all, nowhere in this world beats home isnt that. Doesnt matter if it's my 1st home, 2nd home or 3rd home. The comfort of being surrounded by things and people you are so familiar with, being in your own room, your own bed, pillow, comforter, toilet etc is simply bliss.

But don't get me wrong. My 2 weeks district hospital rotation in Dungun wasn't bad or anything. It's seems to be quite nice actually to work in a district hospital as the workload is not that heavy and the patients respect the doctors even more. The hospital is not very big, just equipped with the basic necessities and all complicated cases will be referred to HSNZ. In fact, if not for the lack of good/reasonably average Chinese food, I think most of us wouldnt had mind staying in Dungun instead of KT. After all, Dungun and Kuala Terengganu are still part of Moldyland with not much variation in culture and customs. Both places lack shopping malls and cinemas just the same. However, Dungun has Pizza Hut delivery which KT dont and Dungun is just 30 minutes away from Mesra Mall which you can at least go for some minimal entertainment.

Our uni subsidized one homestay for our 2 weeks rotation there (Rumah Ros) and all 14 of us were living under one roof, very harmoniously if I may add. hehe. We were living on the second storey of the house with 4 spacious rooms, 3 washrooms, 1 living hall, 1 dining hall, 1 kitchen and a very big compound. We didn't have wifi or internet access in the house but it was alright because as much as we always think that we cant live without internet, truth is we all can. Ok, maybe not total cut off from the internet. I still have my data plan and Kr had a broadband which we all took turned to use, so I wasnt totally cut off the virtual world. The rest of our time there was spent sleeping, pigging out on CNY cookies, strolling by the beach, playing computer games (the guys were having a good time with their dota), playing card games like Monopoly Deal (totally addictive), watching movies or whatever on the laptop internetless, doing presentations or preparing for bst.

They have a very beautiful stretch of beach at the back of our house so me and Human Torch went there for a stroll on Valentine's day. My Valentine's this year was really special. It was celebrated in Dungun together with all my groupmates and because it was also H's birthday, we were also celebrating his birthday for him.
My roomies for the 2 weeks.
We all did bbq on Valentine's Day. Chickens, seafood and sausages were among the must have bbq stuff for the night. Honestly, seafood is freaking freaking CHEAP in Dungun. We bought like freaking lots of squids, stingrays, chicken fish and 2 other fishes and ate so much bbq-ed seafood till no one wanted to eat the seafood anymore but each of us only paid like RM 2.80 for the seafood!! Chicken was a little tougher to find but we finally bought ours at a mini hypermarket called Nirvana. We also tried looking for marshmallows but sadly we couldnt find any marshmallows around at all. So sad dont Dungun people eat marshmallows.
Sharing the love on Valentine's together. :)
Also celebrated H's birthday.
Rumah Ros - our house in Dungun

Last Tuesday also happened to be a holiday, so we went down to Kemaman for breakfast before heading back to Mesra Mall (the most happening mall in Moldyland already and it's in Kerteh).
Outfit for the day - grandmama top, scallop skirt and vintage bag.

Breakfast at Hai Peng kopitiam, the most famous kopitiam in the east coast. I love their banana peanut butter toast with honey and half boiled egg. Nasi lemak was quite good too.
Girls in my group

We reached Mesra Mall near noon but because it was Maulidur Rasul, the cinema was closed and would opened only after 4.30pm. Mesra Mall is just a one storey mall. Nonetheless, impressively enough, they do have a cinema, an arcade, a pool centre, a bowling centre and a futsal court. And they have brands like Envee, Body Shop, Toys 'R' Us, Big Apple Donut and Burger King as their tenants. The next best thing in a place like Moldyland I suppose. So since we couldnt watched any movie, we killed time by playing bowling instead. And also arcade games like the Shooter (the basketball one) which me and Human Torch created our new high score there. haha.
A very nice rose frame, perfect for a couple shot. Actually not necessary have to couple, as long as it is anyone you love. Best friends, family etc

In the end, we drove down again to Kemaman (30 mins from Mesra Mall) for dinner. We wanted to try the famous stuffed crab of Kemaman.
Woohooo... crabby times XD
Stuffed crab at Restaurant Tong Juan. RM 7 per crab. Supposedly the most famous stuffed crab restaurant in Kemaman/Chukai. Unlike the KT one, the real stuffed crab is stuffed with mainly crab meat goodiness. The one in KT is stuffed literally with 80% pork and 20% meat and is RM 10 one.
Honestly speaking, I wasnt looking forward much to being a fortnight away in Dungun initially but it turned out, those 2 weeks there had been one of my best experience and memory so far in my 3 years here in Moldyland. Although we were literally living in a kampung with no internet, has goats eating from our garbage bin (instead of dogs) and cows, chicken and geese crossing the road, I had a very wonderful time living with my groupmates and spending time together getting to know some of them whom I had previously don't really know so well better. (little secrets that only revealed when you stay with someone. haha) :)

World's Tallest Indoor Tube Slide

Finally did the Lex Slide, the one of the kind world's tallest indoor tube slide at Empire Gallery 2 weeks ago when I was down in KL. As harmless as it appears to be, it still sent butterflies up my stomach and turned my legs wobbly. Anything that involves falling from height at high speed not only sent butterflies and turn my legs jelly, it also makes my heart do all those little gymnastic stunts and activate my sympathetic nervous system to the max. But yet, I still like to try rides like that perhaps because I also enjoy the adrenaline rush and thrills it gives rise to.

This slide is nothing like those ordinary slides we used to play or often see at playgrounds. This is one that is 50 metres in height, 5 storeys high and only takes 10 seconds to get from the beginning to the end. Hence, in my dictionary, similar to falling from height at high speed! The worst part is, it is located right in the middle of the mall so even though I had an extreme urge to scream, I cant because if I do, the whole mall I'm pretty sure will hear me and all the kids that went down the slide before me never scream and could even laughed their way down. Why don't they just scream so I wont be the only one? Hence, even though it was scary alright, I was pretty sure I let no sound louder than 100 Hz escaped and hung on to my dear life by clutching my handbag real tight and counting the seconds as I swooshed past each floor very very slowly quickly. *ok probably I'm the only one who finds sliding down a 50 metre tube slide in 10 seconds scary*

My legs turned jelly when I look down the winding slide from the 5th floor. I started giving it second thoughts actually. And it has this see-through-top where everyone can see my horrific unglam look as I slide down. Or you can enjoy looking at people looking at you as you swooshed your way down. -.-'
Tickets to give your heart some excitement and make it work harder and faster. Usually it's RM 12 per slide down but because they said we are nice and cute, they allowed us to slide down twice at the same price. Double experience for the same price.(truth was they are having a promo now hence the offer :p)
*thud thud thud* I was feeling so nervous and had cold sweats buiding up my palms already as I watched Human Torch and Jessie braving through it like ABCs. We had to slip our leg into this blanket like thing and had to keep our heads slightly raised throughout till we reach the end.
My reaction at the end of the ride. So relieved can 10 seconds finally went by. But yes I did it! TWICE samore!
Somehow doesnt look as scary as it was from the top *psychological effect*
My heart was still pounding real hard and fast against my pericardium after 2 slides down from the adrenalin rush but I still managed to stand tall and good. haha!
It was quite an awesome experience although it was pretty scary for me too. It's that kind of thing that send you jitters and excitement at the same time. And located prominently in a mall means it is def the most convenient way to satisfy any cravings for adrenalin rush without having to visit theme parks. Just remember to not wear skirts or dress if you want to take the slide cuz Im sure you don't want to 'zhou guang'. Human Torch took this vid while he came down the slide so I'm putting it up here so you all can enjoy the Lex slide virtually too while taking in the surronding scenery Empire Gallery. :)

Cheongsam for CNY

I'm currently in Dungun as part of my family medicine rotation in a district hospital. Dungun is about 1 to 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Kuala Terengganu and all 14 of us are currently living under one roof in a homestay our uni subsidized. Other than the fact there is no internet available here (but thank God for things like broadband and data plans), so far everything else was quite ok.

This year my Chinese New Year break was extremely short. Although I had one week off, but I had to fly back to Moldyland on the 3rd day of CNY itself. Hence, my CNY was practically spent back home without going much to anywhere except Singapore because CNY is like one of the few times when traffic is extremely smooth in Singapore and across the causeway. Universal Studio and Resorts World Sentosa was however jam packed with people.

This year too, for the first time I wore a cheongsam for CNY. I felt really excited when I stepped out of my house in the cheongsam together with mum and sis who also had their own cheongsams. I don't really know why I'm so excited either. It's funny that when I was younger I kinda detest the idea of wearing cheongsams but recently, I have these fondness towards the Chinese traditional costume and my perception towards it had definitely changed. I find cheongsams these days modern but yet still able to maintain it's elegance, sophitiscation, femininity and sexiness. haha! At least that's how I have always perceived women in cheongsams as (+- the sexiness).

I got these cheongsam from my trip to Guangzhou and it was definitely a very good steal especially when it was not only sold at a price that is definitely cheaper than any blogshops/boutiques in Malaysia but also have better quality. Now I feel like going to Guangzhou again just to buy cheongsam for next year CNY.
I love how fitting this cheongsam is without having to do any alterations at all. Awesomeness!
Staple food for CNY - Yee sang. It has become a tradition that my family will lou yee sang once at least during CNY
Lou ah! The higher the better. haha.
Our reunion dinner
The bunnies family in the bunnie year
Mimicking the statues at Hotel Michael
Glorious candies
I want candies! *nom nom*
Such a random shot with the oranges
Bluey + bluey

Alright thats all for now. Someone else is waiting for the broadband already. Tomorrow is the7th day of CNY which is Ren Ri or what I like to call 'Everybody birthday'. So, all are welcome to send their presents to me in Dungun. hehehe! At the same time, Happy Birthday all. xoxo :)
